Broccoli is a cool-season vegetable that has its origins in the Mediterranean region, where it was cultivated as early as the Roman times. Belonging to the cabbage family, it was later popularized in Europe, especially in Italy, before spreading worldwide as a nutrient-rich “superfood.”
This vegetable is prized for its crisp, green florets and mild, earthy flavor with a subtle hint of sweetness. When lightly cooked or stir-fried, it retains its crunch and rich taste, blending beautifully into Indian dishes like curries, stir-fries, soups, and pulaos. Broccoli is also enjoyed raw in salads for its refreshing bite.
