A stunning compact variety, the Brown French Marigold is native to Mexico and Central America, where marigolds were first cultivated by the Aztecs before spreading worldwide. Unlike the large African marigolds, French marigolds are known for their smaller, bushy plants that produce masses of charming blooms. The brown variety is especially striking, with its velvety, deep mahogany-red petals often edged in gold, bringing a dramatic splash of color to any garden.
Beyond its beauty, French marigold is famous for its gardening benefits. Its roots release natural compounds that repel nematodes and soil pests, while its flowers attract bees and other pollinators. It’s a favorite companion plant in vegetable gardens, helping to protect crops while adding rich ornamental value.
