The Green Winged Bean is a unique tropical legume, originally native to Papua New Guinea and Southeast Asia, where it has been cultivated for centuries as a highly nutritious, multipurpose plant. Every part of the plant is edible—from its tender pods and leaves to the flowers and roots—making it a true “one-plant wonder” in traditional farming.
The short green pods are beautifully ridged with delicate “wings” along the sides, giving them a striking appearance. They have a crisp, slightly nutty flavor that blends wonderfully into Indian cooking. Whether tossed into stir-fries, added to curries, sautéed with spices, or paired with coconut in South Indian dishes, their flavor and crunch bring both nutrition and variety to the table.
