White Radish—often called Daikon in Asia—is an ancient root vegetable with origins tracing back thousands of years to the Mediterranean and later widely cultivated in East Asia. Over time, it has become a staple in Indian kitchens, especially during the winter season, valued for its quick growth and adaptability.
This variety is known for its long, smooth white roots with crisp flesh that carries a mild, refreshing flavor with a subtle peppery note. When harvested young, the roots are juicy and tender, while the leafy tops are equally nutritious and can be cooked as greens. In Indian cooking, white radish finds its way into curries, parathas, pickles, and fresh salads, adding both crunch and zest.
